The Retail and Development Committee of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce launched a new promotion this week (June 11th – 13th) to coincide with the Wyoming Association of Municipalities Convention being held in Gillette. Multiple local media companies have partnered with the Gillette Chamber for “Gillette is the Place to BEE”. Basin Radio Network, The Gillette News-Record, Bresnan (in association with Western Sky Media) and Black Hills Today have put together some excellent advertising packages with one common theme… shop in Gillette.
Local businesses participating in the “Gillette is the Place to BEE” retail promotion include:
- Sir Speedy
- Forget Me Not Floral
- Monix
- FCA
- Shear Magic
- Trend’s Furniture
- Astral Softworks
- Riddles Jewelry
- Don’s Supermarket
- Razor’s Edge
- Damori’s Electronics Plus RadioShack
- Ace Hardware
- Win Kitchen and Bath
- Country Elegance
- Design West II

According to the chamber, this promotion is “inviting you to shop local for great prices, convenience, and hometown service!
Gillette Wyoming Guide spoke with several of the merchants involved in the promotion and nearly all mentioned gas savings and local economic development as reasons to stay in Gillette for shopping.
Rachael Verry, owner of Sir Speedy, says shopping in Gillette is a great way to “contribute back to the community.”
Sue Ristefund, of Trends Furniture, understands that this is a very hard-working community and that many people take out-of-town shopping trips as a way to get away from it all. However, she adds, “If you look and you can’t find it here, then that’s OK. If you don’t look and go somewhere else first, you haven’t given Gillette an opportunity.”
Kevin Beck, of Forget Me Not Floral, focuses on personal service. “We know our clients well. We can bring in exactly what they want.”
We've compiled a list of the Top 5 Reasons to Shop in Gillette:
- Save gas and time by shopping locally.
- Personalized service.
- Contribute back to the community, keeping tax dollars here in Gillette.
- Provides more jobs and economic growth.
- Hometown convenience.
