Description
Campbell County Public Library is pleased to host The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band WINDS OF FREEDOM on Sunday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. The event will be held in the library’s Wyoming Room and is free and open to the public.
WINDS OF FREEDOM is a woodwind quintet that is part of the USAF Heartland of America Band based at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Musicians are full-time Active Duty members of the Air Force and have gone through Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, TX. Their mission is to inspire the hearts and minds of military and civilian audiences to increased patriotism. During performances they also share stirring accounts of the bravery and self-sacrifice of our expeditionary Airmen serving around the globe.
The group’s repertoire consists of classical, jazz and standard woodwind quintet music showcasing its musical diversity. At home in large auditoriums or in more intimate chamber concert settings, the WINDS OF FREEDOM takes audiences on a tour of some of the world’s most beautiful and exciting music. Each member of the group is a soloist in his or her own right and together they render the perfect blend of tone color and musicianship. The group is composed of Master Sergeant Nancy A. Montera, oboe; Senior Airman Jonathan B. Biccum, bassoon, originally of New Glarus, Wisconsin; Staff Sergeant Gary M. Steinberg, percussion, originally from Ft Lauderdale, Florida; Staff Sergeant Jennifer A. James, flute, from Lincoln, Nebraska; Staff Sergeant Clive G. James, clarinet, from Chicago, Illinois; and Technical Sergeant Hughey L. Hancock, horn, from Cincinnati, Ohio.
WINDS OF FREEDOM honorably represents more than 325,000 Air Force professionals around the world who diligently watch over the skies protecting and defending all those who cherish freedom. We hope you afford us the opportunity to share the messages of bravery, sacrifice, courage and commitment of our brave men and women…the deployed Airmen of the United States Air Force.
